A tig welder is responsible for
welding parts in many different directions, including flat, horizontal,
vertical, and even overhead. They are also in charge of welding steel, and
sometimes aluminum, parts. Tig welders must be able to operate effectively in a
team atmosphere, be self-motivated, and be goal-oriented. This is a physically demanding job
that requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy
equipment, and properly wear and use safety gear. Typical employers for tig
welders are companies that manufacture metal products. This is generally a full
time position with the option of overtime.

Tig welders generally must hold a
high school diploma or equivalent. They must also possess the
technical skills to use welding equipment. Additionally, tig welders must be
able to read a blueprint and take measurements. These professionals must posses
basic computer skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively in
both a written and verbal manner to other team members and their supervisors.
Additionally, tig welders must work well on their own under minimal
supervision, as well as in a team setting.

    semi-automatic welding machines.

  • Safely set up and operate welding machines and other
    shop equipment.
