**Immediate opening for short order cook....** Short order cook should have many different skills and abilities. As to cook quickly, you need to have the dexterity and steadiness with your arms and hands. You also need to be a great communicator. You need to be able to communicate with servers and the other cooks. Short order cooks need to have great time management skills. Since the food doesn’t take long to prep or cook, you need to manage your time wisely so it doesn’t burn and the food get plated right when it finishes. Also as a short order cook you need to know basic knowledge in insuring that all food are cooked properly and that we are not serving raw foods or burnt foods to our customers. Keep working stations clean and sanitized at all time to prevent cross contamination. In addition to all of the cooking, you need to do other things around the restaurant as well. You need to keep inventory of what you have in the refrigerator and pantry. You also need to restock the food as needed, to make sure you don’t run out of what the customers want to order. You need to do some general cleaning. Make sure the dining room gets cleaned before you go home, and make sure the refrigerator stays clean as well. Dripping meat could cause cross-contamination, so it needs to be cleaned up as quickly as possible. You also have to make sure you know how to stock a refrigerator properly so cross-contamination doesn’t happen, such as raw meats on one shelf, cooked meats directly above them, and fruits and vegetables on top. As a short order cook, you will need to be able to judge the quality of your food and the happiness of your customers. You need to be able to handle complaints and conflicts that may arise. Keep in mind you will be fully trained.
