“The Coming of the Holy
Spirit”
The coming of the Holy
Spirit, descending upon the Apostles and empowering them to share the Gospel.
It was a moment of uncertainty. The Apostles had returned to Jerusalem after
the Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. They gathered, waited, and prayed.
After nine days of prayer, they heard a sound like a rushing wind and saw
what appeared to be tongues of fire resting upon each of them. People who had
once been separated by language and culture suddenly understood one another.
Filled with the Spirit, Peter found his voice for the first time, and thousands
were drawn into a new community of faith and belonging.
“The
Holy Spirit that the Father
will send
in my name---He will teach
You everything
and remind you of all
that I told you.” -John
14:26
In the Catholic Church, Pentecost
is not just a historical event, it is the Church’s great moment of At-One-Ment
— when fear gives way to courage, confusion to clarity, and division to unity. What had been scattered was brought together. The
Spirit did not erase differences, but transformed them into understanding,
renewing relationships where separation once reigned.
The
Day Celebrated as Pentecost is also a reminder that Our Lord keeps His promises
and doesn’t leave us alone to face our struggles or to complete the work He
asks of us.
Living
a Christ-Like Life, Loving God above all earthly things, loving thy neighbor as
you love yourself, helping others, honoring, respecting one another while
keeping Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ always in our hearts to guide us in
this life!
