Recognizing Younger Achiever's
---------------------------
Vanessa is an extremely accomplished, rising 7th grader who attends Lincolnton Middle School. Her academic career has spanned the year with accolades, A-Honor Roll all 4 quarters, and extracurricular successes of Most Athletic as voted by the teachers on her team. At school, she played as a Forward for the basketball team, and also a Striker for the soccer team, having 2 goals and over half a dozen assists. Vanessa is also a musician, and is a member of the LMS Band, playing the trombone. Aside from sports, Vanessa has volunteered to be a peer mentor to students with special needs by reading and completing activities. Outside of school, she has participated in FCA Dinner for Girl Athletes at Vesuvius Vineyards, acted as an assistant coach for Lincolnton Recreation's Girls U-9 soccer team, and plays travel soccer for YCVSC Eagles as a Striker. She has proudly made 24 goals, serving as a fundamental basis for her team advancement into a higher division within the league. Playing basketball for the Lincoln Optimist, she scored over 60 points and was nicknamed "Buzzer Beater"--scoring the game-winning shot in overtime against Rhyne Financial Management in the semi-final contest!
This summer, Vanessa is attending Camp Pinnacle in Flat Rock, taking speed and agility classes with famed coach, Treymayne Stephens, former San Diego Charger, Randall Orr, retired Harlem Globetrotter, and with former Duke University and NBA basketball star, Ricky Price.
Looking forward, Vanessa aspires to be a pediatric plastic surgeon, owning her own practice, helping children across the world in need of reconstructive, or plastic surgery.
Her parents, Monique and Jhonny Cespedes and sister Maya couldn't be more proud . Vanessa is truly a Starr! On behalf of the Cespedes family, they would like to extend a special thank you to Rhonda McCurry and Crystal Dean, Vanessa's 6th grade teachers for their tremendous classroom instruction and by helping set the solid foundation for their daughter. Thank you! And lastly, Congratulations to Vanessa on all your achievements in your first year of middle school kiddo, your father, Maya and I love you so, so much! You are destined for success and we are so proud of you! We enjoy watching you along the way! We can't wait to see what the future holds for you!
