Jesus Christ Came into The
World To!
According to the Bible,
Jesus stated he came into the world to save sinners, testify to the
truth, and act as a light to dispel darkness.
Here are the primary reasons Jesus gave for coming into the
world, based on Scripture:
- To Save and Seek the Lost: Jesus stated he came to save the world rather than judge it. He
came to offer eternal life, as famously stated in John 3:16-17. - To Testify to the Truth: In John 18:37, Jesus tells Pilate, "For this cause I was born,
and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness
to the truth". - To Act as Light: Jesus stated,
"I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me
should not abide in darkness" (John 12:46). - To Bring Spiritual Sight (Judgment): In John 9:39, he says, "For judgment I have come into this
world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be
made blind". - To Serve and Give His Life: Jesus came to give his life as a ransom for many.
- To Fulfill the Law: He came to fulfill the law and the prophets, not to abolish them.
- To Bring Division/Truth: He noted that his message would create division, acting as a
"sword" - Contextual Meaning
Jesus also mentioned he came forth from the Father and entered the world
(John 16:28), highlighting his divine origin. Furthermore, he sent his
disciples into the world just as he was sent (John 17:18).
This phrase, found
in Mark 9:40 and Luke 9:50, refers to Jesus telling his disciples not to stop
others from doing good works in his name, emphasizing that those not actively
opposing his mission are supportive of it. It promotes unity among those spreading
the Gospel, even if they aren't part of the direct group of followers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Whoever Is Not Against Us
Is for Us
38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out
demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”
39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one
who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about
me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for
us. 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup
of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose
their reward.
“He who is not with me is against me”? If You do not
Believe In His Existence & Teachings, then you are against Him!
- Spiritual Sight vs. Blindness: The "blind" are those who admit they need spiritual
guidance, while those who "see" are often the proud or
self-righteous who think they know God, like the Pharisees. - The Nature of "Judgment": This is not just final condemnation, but an evaluation that occurs
through how people respond to Jesus. It separates those who accept the
truth from those who reject it. - A "Rescue Mission": Jesus came mainly for salvation (light/vision), but his presence
inevitably causes judgment, as rejecting that light leads to darkness. - Context: Jesus says this after healing a
man born blind, emphasizing that physical sight is a metaphor for
spiritual enlightenment and that recognizing one's need for Jesus is key.
Essentially, it means that humility opens one's eyes to
spiritual reality, while pride blinds them. Visit: prayerscircle.com
