Hi
I am a mom with 2 kids and a partner that works part time in a grocery store. My story is long and I struggled a lot through my journey. My son was taken by child services and my world was turned upside down. I was living on the train tracks in a tent with my boyfriend Joe and we hit rock bottom. I was struggling with addiction to hide the pain from losing my son. For over a year I lived on the streets and train tracks running a muck everywhere. PATH Services is an agency and their homeless outreach team personally came to our rescue and made me realize I had to change. They also assisted in helping me apply for Section 8. I was assigned a homeless case manager with a PATH worker and soon enough I was checked into drug treatment at Clare Foundation in Santa Monica. I then was hit with another curve ball, during my intake I found out I was pregnant. I decided to keep my baby and stay treatment. After 3 months in residential treatment and some clean time, I transferred to outpatient at LA CADA and continued my treatment plan. The Whole Child, another agency placed me and Joe in a family shelter in Boyle Heights, I was 4 months pregnant at the time. I was in the process of DCFS reunification with my son too.
After continuing outpatient treatment, going to AA NA meetings, keeping a sponsor, going to doctors appointments, taking public transportation here and there, going to my prenatal classes I reconnected with my parents which is a big deal for me. In June I won custody of my son 😁 and we all lived together in the shelter. My section voucher finally came through and Joe and I began our housing search. For 3 months we searched high and low for a place but it was hard being pregnant and being mobile. I almost felt we were going to lose our voucher before the expiration date but after getting an extension it allowed us extra time. This was a good thing because I have birth to a baby girl on July 8th and had less than one month to find an apartment.
Luckily, after adding the baby and Isaiah to my voucher we were eligible for the HIP ( homeless incentive program) and finally found a place and the landlord accepted our voucher for tenancy. Now we all live in a small house in south LA. We are out of the shelter which is great, the transition from shelter to a real house left us with nothing but our clothes and an empty house. I have my sources from different agencies helping us to find a washer, dryer, fridge, stove, beds, tv, and maybe some furniture. We don't even have chairs to sit on, and we sleep on the floor but it's okay I'm just glad I have a place to call home. It's a true blessing from God. It will take some time to get everything for my home but I have faith I can make it a happen.
However, we are in desperate need of food. Like I said before, we have no fridge and my partner and I will not see any of our income until ends of this month. I don't want your 💰. I need food donations or anything that will help stabilize us for one week. We already have a roof over our heads so I don't need housing. Family is no where near and they are poor like us. I'm worried about this so much I resorted to posting a Craigslist ad. If anyone can drop food donations or a likely source to get food, I would be so thankful. Thank you from the pit of my soul.

Thank you everyone
