Get the words out. Let people know that you are looking for work. The most effective way to find a job is still through word of mouth networking. Tell your friends and families, tell your hairdresser, tell teachers & parents at your kid’s school. The list is endless. People are willing to help. All you need to do is to let them know.

Hit online classifieds sites. In the old days, people would scan through newspaper classified ads Help Wanted section for job leads. Nowadays, job boards on online classified ads sites offer the same benefit.
If you want to get hired fast, forget about the big job boards such as Indeed, CareerBuilder, SimplyHired, etc. Not that they are not good. They are good. They have plenty of great job listings. However, most of those job listings are redistributed to thousands of other job sites. The more eyeballs see those jobs, the higher the competition. And the biggest challenge is that most, if not all, jobs listed there require a lengthy hiring process. Very rarely, a large company can make a hiring decision fast – in few days.
Small businesses, on the other hand, can and may make a hiring decision quickly – some on the spot! Where do those small businesses, your local restaurants, your local day care centers, your local moving companies, post their job ads? The old classified ads Help Wanted section – only they are online now. The most famous of all is, of course, Craigslist. Craigslist is charging fees for listing jobs on their site in several cities. That may squeeze out some businesses. Fortunately, there are plenty of good classified ads sites with active job boards online. Check out our job board for active job listings in your area. Correctly and Effectively sell yourself. Call or email the businesses that are hiring, and tell them in simple bullet points why you are the right candidate for the job. How you can help them. It is NOT about you need a job. It is about you HELP them with their businesses. A right attitude may be all you need.
